Dear Monster Cable,

On January 30, 2009, a neutral line failed on a transformer on the power pole outside of our home. A huge power surge followed lasting several seconds that had severe negative effects on the electronics in the six homes that were on the failed transformer. Smoke filled the houses and the fire department came to inspect each of the homes to make sure there were no smoldering fires still burning. There were burns on the walls of some of the homes. In our home we lost computers, TV sets, phones, strip surge protectors (that did not work at all), a UPS, clothes dryer, air conditioning, and several other pieces of electronics. The power company refuses to take any responsibility for replacing any of our damaged equipment.

Fortunately, when our Bose Lifestyle system and home theater was installed a few years ago by David Guerrero, of Media One Home Theater, he recommended that we use Monster Cables and insisted on a Monster Theater Power Center (HTS800) to protect our electronics. The Bose Lifestyle system, LCD HD TV, CD changer, and FIOS cable box all survived with no damage of any kind. The Monster HTS800 was totally blown out and has a hole melted in the side of it, but all of the electronics plugged into the Power Center survived with no damage. The HTS800 took the hit. That same day, I went to Radio Shack and purchased two new HTS800 Power Centers before plugging in any electronics again. Now our home theater and computers are really protected. I won't use anything else again, ever!
